A Message From Ms. Soto
Dear Parents and Students,
The holiday season is upon us once again, and this means many activities will be happening here at Nightingale. Please make sure that you pay close attention to our calendar and newsletter. At Nightingale, one of the many goals that were set last year was to achieve 96% student attendance. In the State of the School meeting that occurred this past Friday, Principal Arias shared our SQRP report and informed all parent attendees and interested stakeholders that Nightingale did meet our 96% student attendance goal for the 2018-2019 school year!!Administration would like to take the time to thank all the parents, students and staff that helped make this goal a reality. Thank you!! We are now faced with the challenge of maintaining our 96% attendance for this 2019-2020 school year. It is important for all to understand that students need to come to school on time every day, however, it is also important to keep in mind that they must remain in school for the full day. Early dismissals do negatively impact your child’s attendance. We need to ensure that our children are in school all day every day. In an effort to maintain our attendance and keep us on the right track of maintaining our 96%attendance goal, for the month of December all students who are in school every day for a ful lday (no early dismissals), Monday through Thursday will be allowed to have an Out of Uniform Day each Friday. Here are the themes for each of the Fridays.Friday December 6th - Pajama Day Friday December 13th - Sports Day Friday December 20th - Holiday Spirit Wear/Christmas Sweater Students who are eligible may follow the theme or just be out of uniform for the day. This is a reminder to all parents/guardians of 8th grade students. The high school application deadline is December 13, 2019. If you need any assistance please stop by and see Mrs. Rohan.
On behalf of everyone here at Nightingale we want to wish you and your family peace and joy this holiday season!
Dear Parents and Students,

Both events willoccur on Friday, November 15th. The dance will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Pleaseconsider purchasing a ticket for this fun event.Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 13th from 11:15 a.m-2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Please plan on attending the conferences, this is the

a plan if they are off-track. We will also host our C.A.P.S meeting on this date following theconferences. Our C.A.P.S meeting will be from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.As you can see on the calendar, Wednesday, November 27

Parents the weather is getting chillier outside and I’m asking that all students wear thicker

have attached the policy to this month’s calendar.

Nightingale School! I have received a very warm welcome from staff, students and families at
Nightingale. If I have not had the opportunity to meet you please feel free to stop by my office so that I can introduce myself. A little bit about myself, my background is in Early Childhood, Special Education and Administration. I have had the pleasure of working in CPS for my entire professional career in education in teaching and leadership roles. Being a part of Nightingale is special to me as I started my first year teaching not too far from here, at Brighton Park Elementary School. I am looking forward to an exciting year of building partnerships, providing support, sharing new experiences and learning from you all!
Attendance matters! Being at School on time, every day makes a difference. As partners in education, we need your support to ensure students arrive to school on time EVERYDAY so they can have full access to instruction. Students who have strong attendance have (CCSR, 2013):
